When I rushed back to St. Paul University Philippines for my Comprehensive Examinations for my Master of Science in Teaching, a whole new SPU greeted me as I traveresed once more my Alma Mater for my bachelor's degree. SPU, as I have known it, evolved into St. Paul University Philippines as some St. Paul schools with college and graduate levels were transformed into a University System. SPU, for the record, was the first-ever university of the Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres. When University System was conceived, SPU eventually became SPU Philippines, while St. Paul College Quezon City became St. Paul University Quezon City, St. Paul College of Manila became St. Paul University Manila, San Nicolas College of Surigao became St. Paul University Surigao, St. Paul College of Dumaguete into St. Paul University Dumaguete, and St. Paul College of Iloilo into St. Paul University Iloilo.
SPU, indeed, has become the mother university of the SPU system.
Thanks God, when I went back to the folds of my Alma Mater, familiar people still are walking down the hallowed halls of the buildings and of the grounds. My former Mathematics professor, Miss Agripina Maribbay is now the Dean of the School of Education. She is now Dr. Agripina Maribbay having finished her Ph.D.. My former classmate, Madelyn Edubalad, is now Madelyn Menor, Ph.D., Program Director at the School of Education. Another classmate, Rosalinda Taccad, is now Rosalinda Tanguilan, Ph.D. and is now the University Registrar.
I met my former cooperating teacher in science during my in-campus practice teaching at the HS Department of SPU, Miss Wilma Fernando, now Wilma Udanga, Ph.D.. In fact, she facilitated all my schedules for my additional 4 subjects before I took the Comprehensive Examinations. I can not thank her enough.
Then I chanced upon Mr. Jesus Pizarro, now also Jesus Pizarro, Ph.D. when he dropped by the office of the SED.
Memories rushed back when I went up to the 2nd and 3rd floors of the St. Paul Building for my Mechanics. I used to roam its halls. It has been refurbished since.
My heartfelt thanks to all those who, in one way or another, have helped me finish my Masteral studies.
